Effective date: April 24, 2026. Last updated: April 24, 2026.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing and using QR-Decoder.com (the Service), you accept and agree to be bound by these Terms of Use and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the Service immediately.
These terms apply to all visitors, users, and others who access or use the Service. By using the Service, you represent that you are at least 13 years of age and have the legal capacity to enter into this agreement.
2. Permitted Use
You may use the Service for lawful purposes, including:
- Decoding QR codes for personal, educational, or professional use.
- Verifying QR code content before interacting with it on a mobile device.
- Security analysis, incident response, and QR code research.
- Accessibility use cases where direct camera scanning is difficult.
- Internal business use within your organization without separate commercial licensing.
3. Prohibited Use
You may not use the Service to:
- Decode QR codes containing illegal content or facilitating illegal activities.
- Attempt to reverse engineer, overload, disrupt, or impair the Service.
- Use automated bots, scrapers, or aggregators to access the Service at scale without prior written consent.
- Circumvent any security features, rate limits, or access controls.
- Resell, rebrand, or republish the Service or its output as your own without permission.
- Violate any applicable local, national, or international law or regulation.
4. Accounts and Registration
The Service does not require registration or account creation. All features are available to any visitor without signup. As a result, concepts like account credentials, authentication, and account recovery are not applicable.
5. Intellectual Property
The Service, including its design, user interface, original content, features, and proprietary code, is owned by QR-Decoder.com and is protected by international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
The decoder relies on open-source libraries including jsQR (Apache 2.0 license), qr-scanner (MIT license), and ZXing (Apache 2.0 license). Their respective licenses apply to those components.
The QR Code specification is governed by ISO/IEC 18004. The word "QR Code" is a registered trademark of DENSO WAVE INCORPORATED. We use the term descriptively under fair use.
6. Third-Party Links and Content
The Service may display decoded URLs that link to third-party websites. We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party websites or services. Clicking a decoded URL takes you away from the Service. We strongly recommend reviewing the destination URL before visiting.
7. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranty of any kind, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise. We do not guarantee that QR code decoding will succeed in all cases, that decoded URLs are safe to visit, or that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.
The URL safety analysis feature is provided for guidance only and should not be relied upon as a definitive security verdict. Always perform your own due diligence before visiting unfamiliar URLs, installing software, or providing credentials.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, QR-Decoder.com, its operators, and contributors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service. This includes, but is not limited to, losses arising from following decoded URLs, incorrect QR code interpretation, service unavailability, loss of data, or reliance on safety heuristics.
In no event will total aggregate liability exceed one hundred US dollars (USD 100), or the equivalent in local currency.
9. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless QR-Decoder.com, its operators, and contributors from any claim or demand made by any third party arising out of your misuse of the Service or violation of these Terms.
10. DMCA Policy
We respect the intellectual property rights of others. If you believe that material on the Service infringes your copyright, please send a written notice to our contact address containing the information required by the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), section 512(c)(3). This includes identification of the copyrighted work, the allegedly infringing material and its location, your contact information, and a statement made under penalty of perjury.
11. Termination
We reserve the right to restrict access to the Service for any user who violates these Terms, without prior notice. Because the Service does not require accounts, restriction typically takes the form of IP-based or network-level blocks.
12. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws applicable to the jurisdiction in which QR-Decoder.com's operator is established, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising from or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be resolved exclusively in the courts of that jurisdiction, subject to any mandatory protections afforded to consumers under their local law.
13. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. The Effective Date at the top indicates when the current version took effect. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms. Material changes will be flagged on the homepage for at least 30 days after the update.
